All donations go towards offsetting the cost of financial assistance and reduced tuition in the form of scholarships for campers and parents who might not otherwise be able to attend summer camp. If donations surpass the cost of financial assistance, they then go towards special projects to improve programming and facilities.
What Does your Donation Buy?
Is the cost for one week of camp for a child. One week of camp is 35 hours worth of environmental education, exercise, and making lasting, meaningful relationships with other campers.
Gives 2 children a week of Adventure Camp, which includes activities such as rappelling off natural cliff faces in Hocking Hills, Taking a horse back ride past natural waterfalls and caves, and canoeing trips.
Helps us to expand our offerings by allowing us to purchase equipment like bows and arrows for an archery range, backpacking gear for expeditions and trips, or big ticket craft equipment like a kiln for hand dug clay sculptures.
Provides Women of RAW, free of cost for 25 girls and young women. Our all female offering is researched and designed specifically to reduce the constraints facing girls and young women in our community who would otherwise not engage in outdoor recreation and the healthy, sustainable lifestyles that come with it.
In addition to providing 25 children with a free week of camp, this size donation would help us to provide wages for a year round staff who can assist in accrediting Rising Appalachia programs through the American Camp Association, bringing notoriety, and paving the way for converting RAW into an overnight, resident camp.
